A couple weeks ago I sent in 3 reels that had various issues and were of various ages. Yesterday I received 3 fully refurbished reels back from repair at a total cost of $120. I thought that was a great deal since one of the reels was sent in in a zip lock bag fully disassembled. I had a Record 60, a 6600 C4 and an old 6000. Great service. No issues. I would absolutely recommend them. Here's a link to the info.:

Bill, Do you send them any money up front? It doesn't say on the form, or do they bill you when the repair is complete?

No money up front. They mailed the price options to me and then I paid by credit card.

Guys,

Just got to tell you about the great service and deal I got from Abu Garcia this month. I sent in an Ambassador 6000, (about 35 years old), and two Cardinal 753's, (about 25 years old each), to be repaired. I had my doubts about the Amabassador because in was so old. I recieved an invoice for $87.00 with a note at the bottom, that said it would be more cost effective to replace the reels. I didn't understand the invoice because there were parts listed and two miscellaneous $22.00 charges, so I called them and they connected me to the person who was doing the repairs.

He said the Ambassador was already repaired, it was the two 753 Cardinals that they did not have parts for anymore! The two $22.00 charges were for two new 300 series Spinning reels. He said that since Garcia couldn't repair the two reels they were offering 45% off ANY two reels I choose! I upgraded to the 404 and a 400 ultralight for $27.50 each! That was on Friday afternoon, I just opened the box with my three reels that came this morning!

Great Service, and if you have any old reels that need to be repaired take a shot at sending them in to Garcia, you may be able to get a deel on a new reel!

Abu's got very good service because they're products ALWAYS break...besides the Toro.

Brendon,

Quite the opposite in my 45 years of fishing experience. That Ambassador 6000 was 35+ years old, (My first musky reel that my dad bought me), and this was the second time it was serviced, just normal wear and tear. I have a 5600 that is about 25 years old and has never seen the repair shop. The 753's lasted me 25 years before they finally gave out. I am a big fan of Garcia, in fact all of my reels are Garcia. A lot of people complain about the C4, I recieved one for Christmas last year and used it all last summer with no issues at all, and love that reel as well.

Abu Garcia reels are awesome . Can't beat the reels or the service for the money. As a guide I beat the hell out of mine and would tell anyone that it is a product worth buying fo muskie fishing.

Can't say I have 45 years fishing experience, but I can say I have never had an Abu Garcia last a full season. I have about 3 or 4 of them sitting in a box somewhere. The C4 lasted the least amount of time.

I'll take a Penn anyday!

I would NEVER recommend even a beginner to by an Abu, besides the Revo Toro. I've had 3 in at once, got them all back, and they were ALL broke again within a month. I break the main drive shaft EVERY time a put one in my hand. They are a complete waste of money, IMO.

I sent in a record that needed some fixing and had no problems (except for the retail store loosing the reel after it was shipped back).

As far as reels not lasting long, I havent had a reel under $200 last longer than one season. the amount of abuse that we put these reels through is amazing.

Another stand up company is G. Loomis. Ive sent 3 rods into them that were split in half (2 even being my fault) and have never spent more than the cost of shipping to have a 350 dollar rod completely replaced.

The worst company to work with is Shimano. We had several problems with 100's of dollars worth of the same reel while still under warrenty and they didnt want to have anything to do with keeping our business. Havent bought or suggested a Shimano product since.

I second the G. Loomis recommendation.
I broke my 8wt IMX Slate fly rod and had no issues with getting a replacement.
