And that, my friends, is why we musky fisherman just laugh at most bass fisherman. We may be some hard headed people, but at least you don't catch us driving 70 mph through someone else's wake just to see if we can handle it. I know it could happen to anybody, but this is the mentality I attribute to most bass fisherman...especially when they kill muskies because they think that the muskies are eating all the bass. I'm glad the guy and the boat are alright...one could only hope that the result of the accident is a smarter, more humble bass fisherman.
When ranger came out with that little puddle jumper - I called it the "Redneck Rocket" it is way too overpowered. They need to lower the rating on that thing - did you see the way that motor weighed the back end down when that thing was airborne. That is a recipe for disaster in a world where any jacka$$ can run a boat with no training. Light boats with the newer heavier HO motors are definitely dangerous in the wrong hands.
Talk about adding insult to injury. The boat didn't look very stable earlier in the video. I knew a guy who bought a Nitro with a 175hp on it. He couldn't even open the throttle up to wide open because he said the boat would chine-walk so bad. I wonder how many boat companies are cutting corners on safety issues and such to keep their boats affordable? Since a brand new 200hp motor will cost close to $20,000.00, the cost of the boat itself needs to be kept down in order to be able to sell it. It's probably only a matter of time before someone gets killed because of a boat company taking shortcuts in order to stay in business.
This is only my personal opinion of course. Glad the guy is ok.
There's nothing wrong with speed in a boat. You just have to be smart about it. He was out of control for most of the video. Theres no reason to have the motor trimmed that far out. My boat will do 60+ but, I can only think of a handful of times I ever needed to go that fast. All of them were due to incoming lightning.
Besides the first guy to the spot gets it, LOL.
I've got a 21' Stratos Bass Boat I converted to my Musky Boat:D.... it'll do 60-70 but I can only count a handfull of times I've gone over 40, I'll have to agree with Shawn there is just no need and for that matter this guy is obviously an idiot that doesnt know what he should and shouldn't be doing in a boat!
