There are so many musky reels to choose from, however if you could have just one musky reel what would you pick and why? I prefer quality, longevity, and ease of use, that is less strain on reeling in those Double Cowgirls!

I have the Abu Revo Toro 61 , it pulls the double 10's nicely. I picked it up insteadof the TE 400 due to the price of the TE and have been very happy with it.

Mike you threw it a couple times down at the docks afr i got it did you not?

I'm finding barely used CTE300s but not 400s on Ebay. The 2 reels appear to be the same except for the spool size? Has anyone used a CTE300 vs the 400?

I saw the Revo Toro 60 for $220 including S/H, probably a good choice if the CTE ($351) is out of your budget!

Rideout, I thought I remember you getting a Toro as well? How did work out?

The toro was awesome for pulling double 10's , very smooth and it comes with a power handle as well which is nice. Thinking of picking up another one this year

My favorite reel right now is my toro 60. I can cast it a mile if I have to. It is low profile and you can get a good amount of line on the spool.

I decided to buy the CTE-400 2010 model for $335 including S/H. The used and possibly abused TE400s were going for over $200. I felt it was worth the peace of mind and warranty to pay the extra $. The Revo Toro 60 sounds like a great reel, however I'm not sure it compares to the Shimano in durability etc. I plan to sell my 400B with reg. and power handle in April on Ebay. I expect to get $150 or so?

What's the performance difference between Toro 60 HS Toro 60? What about the Toro Winch?

Calcutta TE. By far the best reel Ive ever owned. Ive thrown lots of double 13's the last few years without a single reel issue. That is, until it somehow blew out of my brothers boat. Along with an 8-6 bulldog rod. Somewhere along route 30, between Lansing Il and Webster In, Lies my favorite Reel and Rod combo. If any of you find her, treat her well. I loved her dearly once.

Never had the pleasure of using one but like most have mentioned here... I've also heard many, many awesome things about the Calcutta 400TE.

Has anyone used or heard about the Shimano Calcutta TE 400 LJV Lucanus reel? It comes with an adjustable power handle that may work better than the TE 400?
