I second the boga.... I know it is frowned upon but it is perfect for a kayak. Real bogas are pricy to say the least so go get a cheaper one and try it out and see if it works for you and what your trying to do.

You got me beat, I went out with a friend the other day and we did not have any luck..... I scouted water the day before and I took a spill and did a number on my shoulder so I am taking a few days off. Ice is moving away from some of my spots so I can start hitting the creek mouths in a few weeks or less. Can't wait for the first boat outing of the year.

southern york county has warm water discharge at brunners island. I have boated five fish in January and february lost two at the boat over 40". Main river is warming up about 38 degrees as of 2/20. I drifted about 2miles bouncing tubes no takers. I need about 5 more degrees and things will turn on. I will mainly jig and use 6" kickin minnow alot of action on a slow retrive.

Im looking for a small muskie net. I fish smaller rivers out of a 10ft bass raider boat and need a small net to stow in the boat. I have seen the folding nets but I dont want to mess with unfolding the net with one hand and fighting a muskie with the other. Any suggestions?

He Jacob, thanks for the invitattion. I'm assuming you're in Meadville way up in NW PA correct? That's about 6 hours away so not a short ride for sure. With a wife and kids it's not easy to get away for several days at a time fishing. I would like to get out to western PA for some muskie so who knows, if I get some free time 'll shoot you a message.

Thanks again and good fishing!

Jacob, to answer your some of the questions, I fish a lot of tribs to the Great Lakes between Cleveland and Presque Isl. Most have decent current and are about the same size as the waters you are fishing. I wade and also fish from a canoe (the pic on my profile of the 43" pulled me around for 2 minutes or so until my buddies came to help!). I've had a lot of luck on topwaters, bucktails, and twitchers. River muskies, in my option, are easier to predict using lunar charts and weather patterns, because they can eat anytime they want! My biggest fish wading so far was about 25 pounds, super fat 46"

Mike, anytime you want to come up this way and get some yak fishing in just get ahold of me. French is not the only creek up here with musky! I will show you some spots.... not that they are any good but I will show you them .

Mike D, I started kayak fishing 2 years ago and love it. I bought a short-butt fenwick musky rod just for the kayak. The short handle really helps casting from the sitting position as long as you're not throwing pounders.
As you said, trolling is the way to go if you're fishing a lake or river lock & dam system. I've had a lot of luck with bass, walleye and pike trolling crankbaits, but no luck yet on the 'skies. Maybe this year I'll take the yak up to french creek and get Jacob to show me all the good holes! Haha
