Ed, Sorry to hear you lost your job, but glad to hear you were "livin' the dream" (at least for a lot of us). Missed our trip to LOTW this year, but looking forward to getting back next summer. Like everyone else, I hope it's a "normal" summer!

Ed, Sounds like you made the best out of a fairly tough season up there. Some good tips...thanks for sharing. I only made it up one trip last season and found some really strange patterns and short feeding windows. I hope 2010 is back to normal. :)…

That would be great Phil. Sorry I never made it over to Franks to see your gang but I think you will agree that the weather was a bit crappy that week. LOL Maybe this year? Lets hope the weather is more like summer this time.

A long summer trip to LOTW

Well when I lost my job February 2009, I have to admit it was a little depressing. But as they say I decided to make lemonade out of my lemons so to speak. I spent July, Aug and half of September fishing and guiding on LOTW.
I am very fortunate to have made a couple of great friends in Dave and Jessica Fandrich owners of Angle Outpost on LOTW. Over the past 13 years of fishing LOTW I have always stayed at their resort and a friendship was formed. Dave and Jessica always told me that I was welcom… Continue

What will LOTW hold for us this year.

If ever there was a body of water that teaches musky anglers the importance of observation and how some simple observations can lead to success, it would be Lake of the Woods. Only the good lord knows just how much knowledge Doug Johnson has accumulated over the years and seasons of chasing muskies on LOTW. I can imagine that Doug has just about seen it all out there and that the lake is always evolving to some extent. One thing that I can say that I have learned about LOTW in my limited time on… Continue

Ed, Thanks agian for being part of OMII. It was an amazing week of fishing. Learned a hell of alot from you while on the water. Let's just say that having that 46"er pull me around your boat 5 times was a true OM highlight of mine. I hope your guiding on LOTW goes well this summer. If anyone can put poeple on big fish and plenty of them....it's you. Also, if you get down to the St Louis area in the future, stop by for a cold beer. Thanks again, Scott Payne USMC

Eddie, long time no hear, whatcha been up to? All set for LOTW? I picked up a bunch of baits that I surely did not need and a new rod/reel combo. My 8 footer wasn't long enough, had to go 8'6". Well give me a shout.

Very nice pics Ed! I seen Bill Sandy on Joe Bucher's show this morning. Very very hard to watch! I cannot wait to get back up there! Hopefully I will have a few bigger woods fish to post when I return. My little mid 40's look like dinks compared to your tankers!

Ed, I heard Penn went cheap w/the 975's and they aren't what they first were. Go to REED's sports and you can pick up a 700TE for $329 !! That's $50 dollars cheaper then anywhere else. But the ONLY downfall is you have to manually engage the lever before and after the cast which is a non issue at all, you'll get use to it after 2 casts. I think you'll love this reel. A bit larger to palm but it can be done or i've switched up to grabbing the cork and my arms last much longer!

I held a Sling Blade in my hands last nite, what a nice stick it was, I have allready commited to a Hammerod so let me know how the Bling Bling Sling works for ya! What are you going to put on it for a winch? I HIGHLY recommend the TE 700 which winds the DCG's in like Rooster Tails at 31 inches per crank! And has a levelwind!

Thank Eddie! Yes all of those muskie were caught at Cave Run Lake. I've fished Lake of the Woods years ago but was fortunate enough to catch one there. I'm going to try to get back up north soon and try my luck there again!
