Returned home last week from another great Minnesota Opener! Altho I've been transplanted elsewhere I'm still a diehard Minnesota girl. You can take the girl out of MN but you can't take MN out of the girl! Anyway, no one in my family sleeps the eve…

I can use some new baits-is the offer still good? I'm going back up to Minnesota the end of June. Hoping it will have warmed up enough way up North for the muskie to start getting active. They were nowhere to be seen on Opening Day May 9th but we di…

Profile Information

Real Name:
Chris
About:
Grew up Northern Minnesota. Fished the Gull Lake Chain in summers and ice fished same in winter. Spent every waking hour from my feet hitting the floor in morning till I had to be dragged inside at dark thirty. Learned to fish from my father. Passed his love (obsession) for fishing onto me-I think he wished I was a guy but after a while I became good enough I don't think it mattered any longer as long as I caught fish, baited my own hook, and learned not to Yak in the boat. One of the best memories I have from my entire life is the day I skunked my Dad out walleye fishing on Gull Lake. Wooo heee that was a great day. My stringer was full of really nice 3-4lb walleyes and his stringer was no where to be seen. LOL!!! These days I divide my time fishing in freshwater all summer in Indiana and Minnesota, and saltwater in Florida in the winter. I've never stopped trying to learn all I can about fishing and I don't think I ever will stop. I've got the habit bad. Now that I'm an empty nester I've got the time to spend refining skills and fishing new areas.

Favorite Fishing Memory:
Just too many wonderful ones to pull one favorite out. I was very very lucky to grow up on a lake in Northern Minnesota. Loved fishing and ice-fishing, my brother and I seinned our own bait out of the creek in our backyard. Caught frogs and crickets to use for bass in the lilypads. Nowadays I'm able to split my fishing time between fishing in the spring and fall in Minnesota and saltwater fishing in Florida on the Myakka River and in the Gulf.
Favorite Waters:
Leech Lake, Gull Lake, Big Sand in Minnesota. Sullivan and Lake Monroe in Indiana. Myakka River, Caloosahatchee River, and Gulf of Mexico in Florida.

U name it, I'm game for it.

Re: Start of my 2009 season:-)

Returned home last week from another great Minnesota Opener! Altho I've been transplanted elsewhere I'm still a diehard Minnesota girl. You can take the girl out of MN but you can't take MN out of the girl! Anyway, no one in my family sleeps the evening before the opener even tho we crawl into bed and try to get some shut eye. I spend those few hours before midnight running my gear through my head, reviewing my new tackle, thinking about the knots I've tied, and wonderin just how dang cold its g… Continue

iluv2fish,
Yes! Gull Lake is a good place to go! I have heard about it here in WI...
Fish are all healthy and nice! On my BTR WND MNS, we have caught
Bass on em' in Northern WI in Vilas Co. I'll have to get a brochure
started as people are asking about my lures...Old fashioned colors of
red head w/white body are still productive especially by lilly pads...
